Beautiful Lingshi - Laya - Gasa Trek

The Laya-Gasa is a popular trek and is rated as medium to hard. It takes you through diverse terrain and mountain villages down to Gasa. The hot springs are famous for their medicinal properties. The trek involves numerous ascents and descents as you traverse meadows laden with flowers, juniper and medicinal plants. The valleys and hill sides are cloaked in deep forests of oak, rhododendron, fir and birch and trudge over moraines, past glacial lakes, catching awesome views from snow capped mountains. Laya is the one of the major mountain villages in Bhutan. The locals have an unique way of dressing, pointed hat worn by the women. After a day in the springs, the trail continues on to its finishing point at Damjee. Apart from trekking along the northern boundary, you will be also be visiting the main western towns of Punakha, Wangduephodrang and Paro and Punakha. Western Bhutan is comparatively more developed than the rest of the country.
